OUR TEAM
The YCFA staff is composed of a multi-racial, multi-ethnic group of young organizers, all 28 and under, from across the vast geography of the so-called U.S. We have been active in the youth climate movement, and other politically left social movements, some of us for upward of a decade.
Each of us has been shaped by the historical and contemporary legacies of imperialism and colonization of the lands our families have previously called home, and therefore, have witnessed the horrors of climate destruction firsthand. It is this blend of the personal and familial experience that has formed our revolutionary consciousness.
Our staff has previously organized as members of U.S. Youth Climate Strike, the People's Climate Movement, Students for Justice in Palestine, and numerous successful campus fossil fuel divestment campaigns. Outside of YCFA, each of us is presently involved in local anti-imperialist fights.
As a youth-led organization, we believe in the ability of young people to chart a strategic path to victory. But we also know that a key condition for enabling that success is learning from and with those who came before us, rooting us in an understanding of not only our present conditions, but the past that led us here.
YCFA’s Advisory Board is an intergenerational body of youth, student, and adult organizers, strategists, and theorists that works to produce such an understanding. The Board advises both the YCFA staff team and the Ignition Front plenary on how we develop as an organization, ideologically and strategically.
The Advisory Board is currently made up of 8 exceptional revolutionaries who were chosen for their work with the following organizations:
